Event Nr. 1 Seminar in The Netherlands

Venue: ESCH, The Netherlands
Participants: 2 from 10 Partners (Italy, Ireland, Romania, Austria, Cyprus, Slovenia, Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Luxembourg) + 20 local participants

Specific topic: migration as the cause of intolerance and growing rates of Euroscepticism.

Project activities:

  1. Presentation: The project co-ordinators will present the REFORM project as well as other European Programmes such as Erasmus +, Creative Europe…
  2. Debate: The participants will take part in a formal discussion with a help of a professional facilitator who will assist the process in order to make a best resolution about the topic: (Il)legal trespassing – a need or a choice?
  3. Workshop: REPOPULATE – Is the free movement of people anything new in Europe? The participants will discuss about the problems and opportunities concerning ordinary people in rural areas.
  4. Quescussion: This activity is a type of discussion that is conducted entirely in the form of questions. Participants will quescuss on the topic: Does the age factor affect the receptiveness of refugees in Europe? At the end all questions are summarized, and facilitator extracts the answers from the question.
  5. Brainstorming: Enhancing immigrants integration – showing solidarity in times of crisis. During brainstorming the participants will collect ideas, solutions and learn how rural citizens can make an act of solidarity in local level.
  6. Role Play: The participants will be divided into several groups representing different points of views. In this activity there will be migrants and migration opponents. They will discuss and debate topic relevant questions. The role play will give them an opportunity to imagine the position of others life and way of thinking.
  7. Group Discussion: Group discussion allows the participants to exchange their views and opinions, ideas in face to face situation on the topic: How does multiculturalism keeps Europe united, not divided?
  8. Lecture: Let’s make room for all! A lecture about opportunities for migrants and Europeans led by a professional in this specific topic.
  9. Debate: This Reformal meeting helps the participants to learn about the White paper on the future of Europe and have an interactive discussion in an informal, relaxing environment about the Scenario 1: Carrying on.
  10. Storytelling: DON’T REPEAT, RETELL! (World War 2) A local participant or an expert will tell their stories to other participants. Stories will include their personal points of view without the interference of the audience. A short discussion about the impact of the story on the participants is planned to be organised afterwards.
  11. Game show: REPLAY – an interactive game show played during the meeting. Participants will be playing it on-line. The activity requires them to collaborate closely with participants from other countries in order to get the right answers.
  12. Cultural event: During the meeting a small fair will be organised providing participants with the opportunity to exchange paintings, books, photographs, etc. During the fair they will have to present their country’s cultural and culinary specialities.
  13. Local cultural event: Finding common in (cultural) differences – Participants will experience traditional way of life in North Brabant region by taking part in series of activities (cheese making, wooden clogs manufacturing, cow milking, playing traditional Dutch games)
  14. Voluntary action: participants will take part in a voluntary action organised by the locals. By taking part in this activity the participants will be encouraged to become active citizens and motivated to show respect and give back to the local society.
  15. Survey: A survey as a research method will be carried out for collecting data and opinions from the citizens living in rural areas to gain more information and insights on the topic, focusing on the questions about immigration and solidarity.
